Twaddell

Instrument (hydrometer) for measuring the relative density and hence the solids content of a suspension. One degree Twaddell corresponds to density 0.005. Corresponding solids content depends on nature and amount of solids. Approximate values are: Froth fines, 1 deg. Twaddell = about 2.4% solids

Slurry 1 deg. Twaddell = about 1.4% solids

Tailings 1 deg. Twaddell = about 0.7% solids

This method of measure is considered old fashioned.
